This paper provides guidance on how to map the impact of an investment product using the Investor’s Impact Matrix.
In March 2018, the UK Prime Minister commissioned an Implementation Taskforce to progress the five action areas laid out in the 2017 report, Growing a Culture of Social Impact Investing in the UK. The goal of the report was to provide recommendations for accelerating the development of investment and savings products that enable individuals to support issues they care about through their savings and investment decisions.
Four Working Groups have been tasked with taking forward specific groupings of recommendations. The fourth Working Group seeks to “make it easier for people to invest”. As part of this effort, The Investment Association (IA) is carrying out a UK Market Mapping to increase visibility of the different kinds of investment products available.
This document is intended to be used as a guide to help asset owners and asset managers map the impact of their products. IA members are invited to map one or more of their sustainable and/or responsible investing products onto the Investor’s Impact Matrix. This project seeks to demonstrate a variety of products, not only “impact” products. We will then be able to publish a populated Matrix of real products.
